It annoys me to see great artwork, and then scroll down to the comments and see "FIRST" when this is an art website, not some forum. If they want to do it, go to a damn forum.
Depends on the person posting the Picture/Video. If they're popular, and a ton of people look at their stuff, I'd say it's fine to yell "FIRST!" If it's for something not many people know about, just going "FIRST!" out of the blue doesn't really amuse me.
It bugs me a lot, because I like to lurk through comments. And the first 3 pages of comments I see would be replies about the user's avatar or signature to the "FIRST" commenter.
I actually don't know what to think about it. XDD I'm somewhat mixed about that topic acutally. On one hand I see it as amusing, but on the other I see it as annoying and distracting for the artist, because he/she would have to bother and hide the comment, if he/she so wished. Sure it takes only a few seconds to hide a comment like that, but that's time I'd rather spend doing something else like browse. *head tilt*
Personally, I feel neutral about it. I find myself reading the comments on the people who responded to the people who said "First!". The arguments and the raging is mildly interesting. Then again, I tend to read all of the comments on a vid or submission, just to understand how others see the vid or submission...
